Welcome to Bowness-on-Windermere
Bowness-on-Windermere is a lively town that is popular amongst tourists. It is situated on the shore of Lake Windermere. It is located approximately half of the way along the lake's 10.5 mile length. The town came into being as a result of the opening of the railway line from Oxenholme and Kendal to Windermere in 1847.
